Creating classes and adding student accounts

As a teacher, you will probably want to have your students organized into classes in DataClassroom in the same way they are at your school or institution.

If you are not using an LMS (Learning Management System), you can copy paste in a list of your students email addresses to create accounts for them in just a few minutes. You will need a list of your student email addresses to do this.

If you are using Google Classroom as an LMS, teachers can import their rosters with their course code from Google Classroom.

Creating Student Accounts with your LMS

If you use an LMS already, like Canvas, Schoology, Clever, Classlink, then you can import your classes and students directly from that system. You will need your district IT staff to add DataClassroom as an app in order to do this. Contact us at info@dataclassroom.com to have us reach out to IT staff at your district.

Class Admins and co-teachers

Once you have created classes, you will be the owner and therefore the Class Admin for these classes. This means you will be able to see the work of any of the students in these classes.
You will also be able to assign Datasets to be "owned" by a class, which means that any student in the class will easily be able to find it.

Classes can have multiple Class Admins, for example if you have a co-teacher for a class. Co-teachers can do all the same things the class owner can.

Co-teachers already in your LMS or Google Classroom will automatically be added when you sync a class. If you are creating classes manually, you can add them as described here.
