Managing students' datasets
The whole idea with organizing your students into classes is to enable you to more easily manage the various pieces of classwork that they produce in DataClassroom.
Essentially, when a student is in a class that you have created:
- You can see any work they save (Datasets, Analyses, Simulations....) in the lists under your My Stuff menu
- You can also edit and delete their work, if necessary
And the students:
- Can share their work with the class, which means you and other class members can see (and open) their work
How to limit what you see to a given class
It can be too much to see work from all your students, if you have multiple classes. You can set a Current Class to filter your list view to only see work from a given class (see Current Class) - see how in this article.
Or, you can use the Search field in the list view. It will search on not only the dataset (or whatever) name, but also on the name of the class it has been shared to.
How to hide work from last year
We don't recommend that you get in the habit of deleting your previous student's datasets, to remove them from your list views. They might well want to refer back to something they did last year!
Instead, just delete the class they belong to. This won't delete the actual students or their work from the system. It will just remove the connection between you and them, so you will no longer be able to see their work.
You can always re-create a class and add students again, if you need to do that.
