        You are running an experiment to see whether light affects whether plants live or die. This time, each experimenter has 10 plants they will divide up between light and dark environments, and they will register the outcome as either "Lived" or "Died" after four weeks. Back to overview...

        If you enter your results like this (you can view this example in DataClassroom):

        As the results are categorical, they are in principle not individually unique (one dead plant in the same conditions counts exactly the same as another) and so instead of logging each plant in a 90-row spreadsheet as suggested here, you can make a smaller table of values and counts, without losing any important information.

        If you type the "Count" column as "Sample Count" in DataClassroom (see here for more on Types), you can use this format for many visualizations and statistical analyses. For example, comparing treatments:
