# Roles: Teachers and Students

Your account on DataClassroom will be either a **Teacher** or a **Student** account. You can see this under your Profile:

You can't change your role yourself - contact support if you need to do this

If you think you have the wrong role, write to [help@dataclassroom.com](mailto:help@dataclassroom.com) with your email address and explain the problem, we'll sort it out right away.

### What is the difference?

There is **no difference in terms of the app functionality** for data analysis between the roles. A teacher can however:

- Create and manage classes.
- Create student accounts in those classes.
- Set up a license or start a free trial license.

### How did I get my role?

If you registered yourself using an email address or with Google login, you will have chosen your role when registering:

If you are a student, a teacher may have created your account for you. Teachers can only create student accounts.

If you logged on with an LMS system like Clever, Schoology, Classlink or Canvas, then your role will have been taken from that system. [Read more about LMS here](/v1/docs/importing-classes-from-your-lms).
